keratoconus Proddatur

Keratoconus

Keratoconus thins and steepens the cornea, causing irregular astigmatism and progressive blur. LASIK is usually not appropriate once keratoconus is confirmed.

We evaluate corneal shape and discuss contact lenses, cross linking (C3R) to halt progression, and referral pathways for advanced disease when needed.

Common symptoms

  • Frequent spectacle changes
  • Ghosting or multiple images
  • Light sensitivity
  • Poor contact lens comfort
When to seek care
  • · Rapidly changing power in teens or young adults
  • · Family history of keratoconus
  • · Before considering LASIK

Questions

Usually no. Cross linking and specialised lenses are safer paths. Screening protects you from the wrong procedure.
